National Grid Transco Plc Kirklington Road Eakring

A late agenda item:        Application Number 11/01321/FUL

Erection of a single 500 kW wind turbine 50 metre hub height

                                       77 metre to blade tip

Coultas Cover Farm Kirklington Road Eakring.

The meeting began by considering the applications for National Grid.It was pointed out that the floodlighting of the development completed on the site in 2011 was causing concerns to Parishoners and that light pollution was having an adverse effect particularly on the local birdlife. It was decided to write to National Grid to enquire if a more environmentally friendly system of lighting could be used.

The Parish Council voted unanimously in favour of the

Application Number 12/00068/FULM  although expressing reservations about what sort of floodlighting might be used. The Parish Council voted unanimously in support of  the

Application Number 12/00021/FUL but pointed out that there would need to be strict controls on water run off as the drainage along the east side of Kirklington Road already flowed at full capacity in wet weather and had a history of flooding.

The Parish Council raised the following concerns about Application Number 11/01321/FUL

1.The proposal outline as presented is inaccurate and therefore misleading. The mast is 77mts, blade 54mts and total height 102metres.

2. If passed this will link with a turbine already in place and five more already granted planning permission to encircle Eakring on the South and West side.

3.A 6th turbine proposed on the Stonish Hill development (about to commence)  and sited near this  proposal was removed from the scheme because of its potential impact on the flight paths of planes.

4.This turbine would impact on the skyline particularly from the North

5.This turbine would impact on the nearby wildlife in the woodland habitat.

The Parish Council voted unanimously against this proposal.

The meeting closed at 7.30.p.m.
