                  Minutes of a meeting of the Parish Council held on

             Wednesday 8th February 2012 at 7.30 p.m. in the Cator Hall

Present:Mrs M Curry, Mr R Neale, Mr R Howes, Mr L Haslam, Mr R Brown, Mrs S Wilson, Mr P Lambert,Cllr A Stewart and 1 Parishoner. Cllr B Laughton

Apologies:Cllr N Armstrong.

Minutes:The Minutes of the meeting held on the 14th. December were circulated prior to the meeting.It was proposed by Mr R Neale, seconded by Mr L Haslam and agreed unanimously that these be signed as a true record.

Matters Arising:

1.Street Name Sign Posts: Mr John Gaddas  (NSDC) had inspected with Mr Neale and the Clerk the sites for the reinstated signs and written approval has been received. Mr Neale reported that he had collected the posts and was preparing the signs for putting up. Mr Gaddas suggested all other signs were in good repair. The Parish Council will contact him to suggest that Side Lane and Kirklington Road signs need attention

2.Presentation: Cllr Stewart said it gave him great pleasure to formally present Mrs Curry, as Chairman of the Parish Council, with a cheque for £202.00 towards the cost of  renovating old street name signs in the village.The Parish Council thanked Cllr Stewart.

3. Salt Delivery: The order of 2x1 tonne bags of salt had arrived from NCC but appeared not to be full bags. These were put on a weighbridge and found to contain only 750 kg in each. We have asked for a corresponding reduction in the invoice. Mr Howes, as the designated snow warden for the village, said that in spite of a number of reassurances from NCC he had still not received a snow shovel or jacket.

4.Playing Field Funds: The Clerk reported that the collecting box from the Savile Arms contained a total of £11.12

5.Local Development Plan: Mrs Curry pointed out that that recent Planning Applications and conversations she had had with NSDC  only reemphasised the need to for Eakring to draw up a Local Development Plan.

County/District Councillors:

Cllr Stewart announced that NCC had budgeted for Wellow Road to receive a new surface  dressing in the coming financial year. The Parish Council pointed out that  the road had been closed for two long periods in 2011 when sections had been resurfaced.

2.Cllr Stewart said that gritters had been out workings all the previous week but that there were still 18,000 tons of salt in stock.He had been to inspect the new depot at Bilsthorpe.

1.NCC: Developing a Nottinghamshire Approach to Localism:Cllr Stewart said he would see if he could arrange a meeting with local Parish Councils and NCC.

4. NALC/CPRE Roadshows- Supporting Communities and Neighbourhoods in Panning-various: noted

5.Ollerton and District CAB; Grant Aid Application 2012/2013- It was decided to defer a decision on this until later in the year.

6.St Andrews PCC: A letter thanking the PC for the grant of £180. and continued support.

7. NSDC Annual Parish Conference-2012 date will now be Mon 1 October

Cator Hall:

1.Mr Neale has carried out various works on the store room.

2.Mr Brown and Mr Neale informed the meeting that the east retaining wall had shown signs of moving. Imvestigations as to the cause have begun with an outside company brought in to give an opinion. Temporary measures have been taken to avoid further movement. Meanwhile the Insurance Company have been contacted.

Recreation Ground:

Mrs Curry explained that a decision on the LIS application was expected at the beginning of March whilst a Veolia application had also been formulated.

It was proposed by Mrs S Wilson,seconded by Mr L Haslam with all in agreement that these accounts be paid.

Any Other Business:

1.Jubilee Update:There is a meeting next Tuesday. The marquee has now been cancelled and it is planned to base the events around the Cator Hall and the land between the Hall and the Church using small marquees. There will be two sessions with an afternoon one more for children and the evening for adults.A band has been booked and a Children’s entertainer is being sought.   It is hoped to decorate mugs on the Saturday,fire them overnight and present them on the Sunday.

“2. Green Lane Inspection: Mr Haslam and Mr Neale agreed to accompany the Clerk on 10 February for this annual TASK.

3.Litter: Mr Brown raised the issue of rubbish around the village and said a number of Parishoners had asked about the possibility of another’ litter pick’. It was agreed to be a good idea to organise one once the weather improved.

4. General Maintenance: It was pointed out that the bench at Mompesson’s Cross could do with a coat of paint and the sign requires attention.

5.Notice Board: Mr Lambert said he was assembling the materials to begin work on the project.

6.Mr Rob Atkinson gave a illustrated presentation explaining how Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust manage Mansey Common.

 

There being no further business the meeting closed at 9.00 p.m.
