A
meeting of the Parish Council was held on Wednesday
10th November 2010 at 7.30pm in the Cator Hall
Present

Mr L Haslam, Mr R Brown, Cllr A Stewart, Cllr B Laughton and Cllr N Armstrong.

As both the Chairman and Vice Chairman were
absent it was proposed by Mrs S Wilson, seconded by Mr R Brown with all in
agreement that Mr Haslam chair the meeting.
Minutes
The minutes of the meeting held on the 13th
October were read. It was proposed by
Mrs Wilson, seconded by Mr Brown and agreed unanimously that these be signed as
a true record. The minutes of the
meeting held on 2nd November were read. It was proposed by Mr Brown, seconded by Mr
Howes and agreed unanimously that these be signed as a true record.
Matters
Arising
- Interpretation Board – the PC heard that this is to be fitted
on the 11th November.
- Visit of NSDC Planning Officer – Mr C Walker Chief Planning
Officer of NSDC has agreed to attend the December PC meeting.
County/District
Councillors
- Cllr Stewart promised to pursue the PCs concerns about the
junction from Bilsthorpe onto the Eakring Road (whether ‘Stop’ rather than ‘Give Way’
markings would be safer).
- Cllr Stewart said that he had given a grant to ROB so that the
recycling project could be extended to Eakring.
- Mr Howes said that the Kirklington Road junction onto the A617 had now been cleared of overhanging
foliage which made it much safer to use.
- Cllr Stewart enquired if the PC wished to pursue the LIS bid
which was talked about that last month’s PC meeting. The PC said they were
still weighing up the implications of the proposals.
- News was given that the new Highways Dept is to go ahead but no
date has been set.
- The PC discussed with Cllr Armstrong their feelings about the
proposed brown bin recycling scheme as applied to Eakring and the value
for money of the Voice magazine.
- Cllr Stewart and Cllr Laughton announced that it was proposed
to hold the Triathlon in Notts again in 2011. Cllr Stewart said the organisers would
be contacting the PC to explain their proposals. Cllr Laughton displayed a map of the course showing
cyclists would pass through Eakring twice in the day on 24th
July.

It was proposed by Mrs S Wilson, seconded
by Mr R Howes with all in agreement that these accounts be paid.
Any
Other Business
- Proposed Reinforcement of Electricity Supplies Eakring. The PC studied the contents of an e-mail
from Keith Thompson of Central Networks dated 3 November related to
proposed access from Triumph
Road. It was proposed by Mrs S Wilson seconded
by Mr R Howes with all in agreement to accept the terms as outlined in the
e-mail. It was proposed by Mr R Howes, seconded by Mrs S Wilson and agreed
unanimously to employ Jakes and Co of New Ollerton (Mr Sinderson) to act
for the PC in this matter.
- Update of Emergency Plan – Mr Haslam said that in most
instances the plan remained as previously with a few amendments and was at
present in the process of being printed.
- Severe Winter Weather Arrangements – The PC chose to take
advantage of NCC offer of 5 free 25kg bags of prepacked salt. They will be delivered to Mr Haslam’s
house for onward journey to the resilience store. The other items on offer at various
prices were declined after debate.
- Christmas Tree – it was decided to
switch the tree lights on at 6.15pm on Saturday 4th
December. It was agreed unanimously
to allocate £50 towards refreshments for the light switch on. Mrs Stokes is to be invited to turn on
the lights. The event is to be
published in the Eakring Echo.
There being no further business, the
meeting closed at 8.20pm.
