The minutes of the meeting held on 13th
May were read.It was proposed by Mr D
Brozyna, seconded by Mr L Haslam and agreed unanimously that these be signed as
a true record.
Street name plates: The Bilsthorpe Road/Main Street signs
wrongly placed near the telephone box have been correctly relocated near
the Wellow Road junction.Unfortunately
the PC feel they lack visual appeal because a) they have not been placed
equidistance from the fingerpost, b) the Main St
sign is an old sign reused and the Bilsthorpe Rd sign is a new sign.The
Clerk of Works Dept has been informed and corrective work has been
A letter has been received from NCC.They will not remove the road surface but will visit and assess the
soil at the side of the lane to see if it constitutes a hazard.
Grass Cutting: NCC confirm that the
village should receive 6 cuts of the verge and 2 strims around
obstacles.1st cut took
place 27th and 29th May.
Telephone Box: Refurbishment has not yet begun.
Speed Signs: It was decided both to ask for signs for the
village at the next Safer Neighbourhood Group Meeting in July and to write
direct to Inspector Gann at Southwell Police Station.
The road between Eakring/Kneesall is to be closed for 4 weeks
for essential maintenance.Councillor Stewart said that after representations from parents
with children at KneesallSchool he had held talks with NCC Highways and the road closure time
had been reduced from 6 weeks to 4 weeks.
Cllr Stewart wondered if the PC had considered applying to
replace the bus shelter with a new one (an example of those available
could be seen in Oxton).
The PC expressed concerns about the number of HGVs passing
through the village both on Newark Rd
and Kirklington Rd.Cllr Stewart agreed to
see if there was anything that could be done.
NSDC Register of Members Interests.Individual copies of Register of Members
interests were distributed.Parish councillors
were asked to check their own declaration and reminded that they must
notify the Monitoring Officer of any changes of their interest with 28
days of becoming aware of them.

The PC have received a letter from
Rufford PC about Road Safety on the A614. It invited the Chairman to a
meeting of local Parish Council Chairmen on 15.6.09.Discussions took place on measures to
improve safety on the A614.Suggestions include traffic lights, islands, a 50mph limit, cameras.The
value of 3 lanes was debated.
It was noted that the rubbish bin on Back Lane
did not appear to be being emptied.Clerk to contact relevant Dept.
The recycling bins on Main Street were thought to be unnecessary as there are fortnightly house
to house collections for tins and newspapers.
Whilst the new 30mph signs are slowing traffic entering the
village it was suggested a small 30 sign be placed on lampposts further
into the village, particularly on the Newark Road and Kirklington
Road, would help
reinforce the speed limit.
St. Andrews have agreed to
the placing of the planter.Mr
Brown suggested a position under the window.
